Hello, dear reader.
Wish you a fabulous 2020! As we wrap up a year and a decade, I wanted to share with you a little bit about my journey as a writer.
I started my blog ‘The Musings of a Chennai Gal‘ in 2005 and filled it with teenage angst, passion and idealism. Through these fifteen years, as I changed from being a Chennai girl to a Singapore girl to a Bombay one and then now to a Delhi woman, my writing saw a sea change. For starters, the blog became this formal-ish website. And then, of course, there’s Spark, the online literary magazine I co-founded with my sister Anupama, which turns ten in January 2020!
2019 was special in terms of writing for a few reasons. I could only write non-fiction for a long time in the last couple of years. But then in the second half of 2019, I could only think of stories all the time! I also managed to write more consistently than I have in the last few years.
Here are a few pieces I enjoyed writing this year. I hope you like reading some of them. Thank you for your support in my journey as a writer – writing is all about expression but it’s sweeter when we know that they resonate with someone.
Fiction:
- A story of friendship built over tea
- When cousins gather and reminisce the life of their grandfather
Travel:
Life, reflection and fun:
- A nostalgic take on ‘ink’ pens
- How thinking of individuals as being on their different journeys helps me deal with the chaos around – and try to be a little kinder
I hope to be able to write more, and often, in 2020. Until I see you next year, wishing you a fun, healthy and hearty 2020!
